Touch, feel and smell spices that are commonly used in Singapore such as pepper, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Did you know that some of these spices were once worth their weight in gold?

This interactive exhibition traces the voyages of discovery, the history of the spice trade and its impact on Singapore, traditional cures and flavours of regional cuisine.
Learn about some of the explorers (Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan) who made significant contributions to the discovery of the origins of spices, and in the process, discovered new lands and people.

Experience life at sea as encountered by early immigrants from Southern China – in a recreated dark and cramped cargo hold of a ship, complete with sound effects and creepy pests.
