Speedcubing At The Cube May 16, 2009

Rubik’s Cube speed solvers will showcase their skills. Events will include blind-folded solving, one-handed solving and more! Those interested in participating may visit www.discoverycube.org for more information.
Guest speakers from the University of California, Irvine’s Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory will discuss how memory puzzles and logic games like the Rubik’s Cube help to keep the brain active through the years.
The event is put on with the help of Tyson Mao, a Rubik’s Cube World Record holder and former “geek” on the CW’s hit reality show, Beauty and the Geek. Mao’s work with the Rubik’s Cube includes forming the World Cubing Association and teaching actor Will Smith for his 2006 film, The Pursuit of Happyness.
