This workshop will cover the NYS Early Intervention Multidisciplinary Evaluation Process, Standards and Procedures for Speech and Language Evaluations. The main focus of the workshop would be to guide professionals conducting Early Intervention evaluations in NY state, and will cover Developmental Delay, Developmental Milestones; NYS Early Intervention Eligibility Criteria; Administration of speech assessment and components of a comprehensive evaluation report.

PRESENTERS:

This workshop will be given by Sonu Sanghoee, Director of Speech Supervision and Karoleen Salameh, Evaluations Manager.
Sonu Sanghoee is a NYS licensed Speech Pathologist with extensive experience in field of speech and language. Sonu has thorough knowledge of bilingual language development, and Early Intervention /preschool speech and language evaluations. She has conducted many specialized workshops and assisted the Bilinguals Inc Evaluations department with trainings.
Karoleen Salameh is a NYS certified School Psychologist who has been working with the CPSE and EI Evaluations departments for the past 5 years. She is knowledgeable in the field of School Psychology, and NYS preschool as well as Early Intervention procedures and guidelines. She has conducted many workshops and trainings on developmental assessments, criterion and standardized tools, NYS procedures and regulations, as well as and bilingual/bicultural evaluations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

•Participants will learn the definition of developmental delay as per the NYS Memorandum 2005-02 Standards and Procedures Manual. •Participants will gain knowledge in the early childhood developmental milestones across the five domains. •Participants will learn the NYS Eligibility Criteria as per the NYS Memorandum 2005-02 Standards and Procedures Manual. •Participants will learn the difference between a standardized test and a criterion referenced test.•Participants will learn which test tool should be used when evaluating bilingual/bilcultural population.•Participants will learn how to appropriately report and intrepret test results.•Participants will learn the importance of formulating informed clinical opinion using various sources, such as the clinical clues and predictors from the Clinical Practice Guidelines set forth by NYS.
