SPECIAL Free Lecture at the Museum of Texas Tech University November 15, 2007

The Museum of Texas Tech University is pleased to present a special free lecture by Dr. Lin Quo-ping, director of the Information Center at the National Palace Museum (NPM) Taiwan, in the Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium (Museum west Entrance) on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7pm,

His lecture is titled "A Duet of Modern Information Technologies and Ancient Artifacts at the National Palace Museum". In this lecture, Dr. Lin Quo-ping will give a brief introduction to the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, explore the Museum's history and collections, and follow with an overview of the digital projects and resources available to the general public. Dr. Lin will provide the audience a broad overview of the current digital projects at NPM and give a feel for its strategy of using modern information technologies in various ways to rejuvenate an old museum.

Lin Quo-ping received his MS degree in Computer Science and PhD in Engineering Management at the University of Missouri. He worked in the Department of Information Management at Huafan University in Taiwan as an associate professor and department chair/director of the computer center. In teaching and research, he focuses on managing information systems and other related issues.

In addition to being a researcher and director of the Information Center at the National Palace Museum, Dr. Lin Quo-ping is secretary general of the Chinese Association of Museums, and vice president of the Museum Computer Network-Taiwan. At the Palace Museum, he is responsible for organizing and developing three national programs - Digital Archives, Digital Museum and Digital Learning. He plays an important role in international exchange and cooperation at the Chinese Association of Museums and the Museum Computer Network-Taiwan.

This special lecture is free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will follow the lecture. Lecture will be held in the Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium (Museum West Entrance).
