Sonar
All battles will be judged by the same three judges - DJ Squirrel Wyde from 92.3Q Jams, Loko from DVC, and the crowd. All battles will be tournament style. Competitors will be chosen at random to compete head-to-head until there is only one man (or woman) standing. All four first place winners will take home a cash prize of $200. Sign-ups begin now and close at 9pm on the night of the event. You can sign up by sending an email to [email protected] or by calling 301-325-0215. There is no entry fee. Your ticket admission into Sonar acts as your entry fee. The first 16 producers and emcees, and the first 8 DJs and BBoys to pay for their ticket will be competing. ***Freestyle Battle - 16 contestants***
Competitors will face-off in two 45-second rounds, with a coin flip deciding who spits first. Two 45-second rounds mean that each emcee gets two opportunities to spit.
In addition to $200, the winner of the freestyle battle will earn the opportunity to compete on 92.3Q Jams "Tuesday Night Fights", hosted by DJ Squirrel Wyde.
***B-boy Battle (1 on 1s) - 8 contestants***
Each b-boy will have 60 seconds to complete two sets.
***DJ Battle - 8 contestants***
DJs will have 4 minutes to complete their set.
***Producer Battle - 16 contestants***
First Round
Producers will take turns playing one 45 second beat.
Remaining Rounds
Producers will take turns playing two 45-second beats.
