I know a lot is happening during World Cocktail Week this year and I apologize in advance for the multiple emails. I just really want show off how great this city's cocktail culture has become. Also, with all the events, there is one special event that I would love for you to attend:

SOVA is holding a happy hour to support the Museum of the American Cocktail on May 9th from 7 to 9 P.M. where a portion of the proceeds are donated to the Museum. Melanie Asher from Macchu Pisco will talk about Pisco and bar manager Jamie MacBain and his staff will be making some of SOVA's new signature cocktails including the Bay Area Philosopher (Pisco, pineapple-sage syrup, ginger liqueur and lemon juice) and the Arequipa Sunset (Pisco, muddled yellow peppers, organic cranberry juice, orange juice and mint). These are great drinks, I know because I had a hand in creating them.
I worked with owner Frank Hankins and bar manager Jamie MacBain, a ringer from Portland who formerly ran Park Kitchen's bar program, to create a unique concept featuring grape-based spirits like Pisco, Cognac, Armangac and Grappa and incorporating these grape-based spirits in to hand crafted cocktails like the Champs-Élysées (Cognac, Yellow Chartreuse, lemon juice) and The Formosa (white Port, sparkling Sake, orange zest).
SOVA is a wine bar so they also have a great wine list that Frank, Jamie and I hand-selected. Poured from a Cruvinet, all wines are also sold by-the-glass including South American, Greek, Lebanese and Austrian wine choices such as Ewald Gruber's sparkling Gruner Veltliner, "Punkt Genau," from Austria or Massaya's Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bekkaa Valley in Lebanon.
SOVA started out as a coffee house and continues to have an amazing coffee and tea program. SOVA offers coffees from highly acclaimed, award-winning roaster Intelligentsia Coffee. In addition, SOVA serves premium loose leaf teas by award-winning Rishi Tea.
