"Southern Grown" Weekend: An Homage to All Things Southern June 21, 2012

Sea Island will celebrate all the best that Southern cooking has to offer, from comfort food to cutting edge, during its “Southern Grown” weekend.

During this engaging three-day event at the Forbes Five-Star Cloister, guests will mix and mingle with the culinary elite while they sip and savor food and beverages with intrinsic flair. “Southern Grown” will feature a full plate of meals, cooking demonstrations and experiences throughout the resort. From a fun and casual outdoor “County Fair” inspired evening to refined southern cuisine in the Forbes Five-Star Georgian Room, guests will celebrate all the best that Southern cooking has to offer.


Friday, June 22: The weekend begins with a “Country Fair” inspired evening at Rainbow Island, Sea Island’s relaxed marsh-front setting, and continues with meet-and-greets with distinguished industry veterans and classic family games.


Saturday, June 23: A full day of cooking demonstrations, cookbook signings and tastings awaits guests.

Sunday, June 24: The weekend homage to the South concludes with a Sunday Southern Gospel Brunch at The Lodge at Sea Island. Guests will dine on Southern brunch staples such as Chicken and Waffles, Biscuits and Gravy, Cotton Cakes and Grits, all while enjoying the sounds of Gospel Singers.
