SPECIAL ADDITION: 6-9 p.m. - A.D.'s STREET MRKT Join us after work for this DIY urban fair beneath the murals at Anno Domini. Artists, local retailers and 3 bands get together to bring you an early evening of art, clothing and live music!



All art venues are free and open to the public, 8pm 'til late on First Fridays of the month.

Artist's Reception: DEERWOOD and the CORAL CAVERN a collaborative installation & performance by C. Ryder Cooley & Jessie Rose Vala

Special Performance: Accordion serenades will be performed by Ryder Cooley from the gallery rafters plus a collaborative storytelling performance by Jessie and Ryder will occur at 9pm intitating the indoor mural.

New Exhibition: Of Freedom and Bondage: The Abstract World of An Artist's Passion by Kai Hoang

MACLA Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana - 510 South First Street map

Currently on view: The 8th Annual Latino Art Auction - View the very best of contemporary Latino art from the Bay Area and beyond. Auction proceeds support MACLA's programs which reach over 20,000 people annually. Live auction is Sat., June 3, 2006.

Music by: Chatos 1013 spinning Latin, Jazz, Nu-jazz, Soul and Rare Groove and everything else under the sun on the entrance to the gallery. Plus, a special after Party peformance presented by Universal Grammar On the Patio at the Agenda Lounge by Ubiquity Recording Artist Nino Moschella performing live with a four piece band. Doors are at 9pm show at 10:30pm. Free with special pass (available at SoFA galleries) or mention "South FIRST FRIDAYS" at the door.

San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art - 451 South First Street map

Open late with the Opening Reception of Lift Off, the ICAs annual group show of this years graduates of San Jose State University's Master of Fine Arts program featuring 18 artists working in all media.

And a new First Street Night Moves: Inga Dorosz and Amanda Fin: The Trottle Sink. Taking their cue from literature, lunar explorations and the human need for adventure the artists illustrate the universal desire to break out and the thrill of the getaway. Market Street Night Moves continues with: Untitled (shoe-gum) by Joshua Pieper, a five-channel hyperbole of stepping in a wad of bright pink chewing gum.

San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles - 520 South First Street map

Currently on view: The San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles and the Association for Viet Arts present Ao Dai: A Modern Design Coming of Age, an exhibit of over 60 Vietnamese garments showcasing work by contemporary designers who are transforming the traditional fitted tunic worn over loose-fitting pants into wearable art.

Late Night with Dress Rehearsals features a performance by The Far East Dragon Lion Dance Association.
