SOUND NO SOUND:- SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2005

Sound No Sound are ecstatic to present one of the only shows in Australia featuring the cream of New Zealand Free-Rock-Noise....whatever...that one could hope for....CREAM!

Saturday 3rd is the only chance we will get to see them lay aural waste to the Mandarin Club as we know it!

BIRCHVILLE CAT MOTEL:- To say Campbell Kneale is a drone master is kind of an understatement. No project in recent memory has produced the kind of ethereal spew that Kneale concocts in his electronic laboratory. Over the courses of too many releases to remember, he has constructed a sonic arsenal to match any threats that may arise.

SANDOZ LAB TECHNICIANS:- . They might not exactly be easy listening, but in the middle of the intoxicating and sometimes disturbing amalgam of noise, free jazz and drone there's a sense of beauty and isolation that is much more seducing than it is alienating. Just like New Zealand itself, their music can be so calm and placid but with rawness and magma explosions just gurgling beneath the surface, waiting to erupt from a fissure somewhere.

THE STUMPS:- the stumps are a bit of a supergroup from the rugged confines of new zealand. featuring antony milton (pseudoarcana, a.m., etc), stephen clover (seht), and james kirk (sandoz lab technicians, gate, etc), these are sonic musicians putting their best foot forward.

1/3 OCTAVE BAND:- bill wood and jules desmond duo, along with other contributors such as ben spiers. string driven shiver floating in a lake of orchestral sheen. hyper-kinetic drones fashioned from the slow moving gracefulness of supersonic spacejunk. aimless grandeur.

CASTINGS:- Castings is an improvising ensemble with it's collective eye fixed on making noise soundscapes which alternate from serene to dissonant, lush to stark.

....this is the one and only occasion to catch them in full band, full sound, full tummys, fully sick, fully proof, fully eh?
