Soul Sauce Latin Jazz Band August 1, 2010

Soul Sauce, co-led by Jon Eriksen and Curt Moore, is named to capture the essence of this group's fiery sound,.The tune "Soul Sauce" was recorded by many jazz artists over the years, and even made an appearance on the pop charts when it was recorded by Cal Tjader in 1964.

The band plays at the scenic Nick's Restaurant in Rockaway Beach, right on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

The band draws on the rich body of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian-influenced jazz, as well as incorporating original works and unique arrangements of contemporary, standard, and obscure jazz tunes. The 5-piece group uses Eriksen's vibe's as its focus, with support from Moore's tasteful drums, with Murray Low on piano, Rich Girard on bass, and Michaelle Goerlitz on congas. The versatile vibist is also an accomplished jazz harmonica player, and several songs feature his Toots Thielemans-influenced sound.
