Soprano Barbara Bonney returns to the stage in a concert presented by San Francisco Performances, her first major US appearance since taking a sabbatical from singing three years ago. For this very special concert, Bonney will be joined by composer, conductor and pianist Andre Previn, who brings the US premiere of "Sieben Lieder" (new settings of works by 19th-century German poet Theodor Storm), as well as his "Emily Dickinson Songs" and "Sallie Chisum Remembers Billy the Kid." The program also includes songs by Mendelssohn and Strauss's "Vier Letzte Lieder."

Personable lyric soprano Bonney has proved herself a favorite not only of Bay Area audiences (this will be her 11th appearance with San Francisco Performances), but those around the world. Her technical and dramatic gifts have garnered her awards, major operatic roles and concert engagements, but it is her generosity of spirit and bright personality that have secured the public's loyalty.

Adding to the uniqueness of this concert, which will only be performed in San Francisco, is that it coincides with Previn's 80th birthday year. Celebrations will culminate with four concerts at Carnegie Hall: a performance by the Previn Jazz Trio; with the Philadelphia Orchestra, with Previn both conducting and performing as soloist; a chamber music concert with Anne-Sophie Mutter and Lynn Harrell, with Previn at the keyboard; and an evening of his compositions performed by the Orchestra of St. Luke's with Mutter and soprano Renee Fleming.

$55/$35.
