Singer/guitarist Jay Farrar follows down the same path of heartfelt country/rock as his former band, the influential alternative-country trio Uncle Tupelo. After a seven year hiatus, Son Volt returns with a new album, 'Okemah and the Melody of Riot,' with a 20 track compilation and live DVD. With plenty of mercurial attack and effervescent chiming, The High Strung sometimes comes across as a Brooklyn version of the Buzzcocks or the Jam, as well as Nuggets-inspired rockers.
