Evensong, the sung service of Evening Prayer, is an ancient, traditional service of the English church. In it, prayers, hymns, and choral music are combined into a beautiful worship experience. The two evening canticles, Magnificat (the Song of Mary) and Nunc Dimittis (the Song of Simeon) are sung by the choir, as well as an anthem appropriate to the season.
For this service, St. Paul's Parish Choir under the direction of Dr. Thomas Lee will sing the evening canticles as composed by 16th century Englishman Richard Farrant (d. 1580). The anthem is by Orlando Gibbons (1583-1630). We hope you will join us for prayers and beautiful music offered in a beautiful, historic setting. No admission charge, but donations to the Soli Deo Gloria Guild will be gratefully received.
