Societies of the NYPD Day: Cultural Heritage Street Fair June 7, 2008

The Police Museum will host its 2nd Annual Societies of the NYPD Day where visitors can meet members of the various NYPD cultural and ethnic societies and view exhibits that highlight the fraternal, social and ethnic groups of the NYPD. The societies display how their members reflect the diversity of the Department. These groups, such as the Emerald Society, the Asian Jade Society, the Policewomen's Endowment Association and the Gay Officer's Action League, were founded by members struggling for equality within the NYPD and their community. The groups will also present ethnic and cultural performances from the Asian Jade Society's Dragon Dancers, the Emerald Society's Pipe and Drum Band, and more.
