This weekend in the beautiful Peak District has everything you need for exploring the great outdoors and trying something new. Whether it's walking, climbing or caving, you'll be helped every step of the way by our friendly and experienced guides. And you'll be doing it amid some of the most beautiful and breathtaking countryside in the British Isles.

Our events are always sociable occasions, so whether you come with friends, family or on your own, you will get to meet likeminded people with one purpose in mind - to enjoy themselves!

Our accommodation is a comfortable rural retreat in the Peak District's lovely Staffordshire moorlands. YHA Gradbach has all the facilities we need, and there will be plenty of space to relax and chat together. Mealtimes will be great for getting to know people and swapping stories about your activities during the day, and you'll enjoy good quality food sourced from British and local suppliers (see below for more details).

Easy to get to, offering a range of activities to enjoy in a stunning location - what more could you want from a weekend away!

The walks

1. Lud''s Church: 8 miles We head along the Roaches for this stunning walk which skirts the Western edges of the Peak District, enjoying views over the Staffordshire and Cheshire plains. From the ridge we drop down into ancient woodlands to explore Lud's Church. This is an immense natural cleft in the rock on the hillside above Gradbach. It is over 15 metres high in places and over 100 metres long, though mostly only a couple of metres wide!

Two other walks are being planned; details will be available nearer the time.

Caving On Saturday you will have the option of a day's caving, specifically designed for beginners. The caves have been carefully selected and are all horizontal. There will be no climbing involved or squeezing through tight spaces! There is an addition cost for this of £50, which includes all equipment and the expertise of qualified local cave leaders.

Climbing The Roaches are among the most famous climbing rocks in the UK and are just a short drive/walk from the hostel. There will be two climbing options on this weekend:
•Option 1: Taster day. If you've not done any (or much) climbing before, why not join the beginners climbing day on the Sunday? The additional cost for this is £30, and includes expert tuition and all the necessary equipment, enabling you to have a go and discover if this is a sport for you.
•Option 2: Beginners development. If you are feeling more adventurous and would like to spend two days climbing, you can come on this weekend and do just that! This is the perfect way to see if climbing is truly for you, as this option is limited to just 8 places - meaning you get loads of one to one expert guidance. The additional cost for this is £50 - please email us directly after you've booked the basic offer and we'll facilitate this for you.

Welcome Pack: At each of our weekends you will receive a welcome pack comprising a bottle of our own real ale brewed just for us on the Chatsworth Estate in the Peak District, ear plugs and some sweets to help you through the walk, along with essential event information.

Our Food: There's nothing like a good meal when you've been out walking or on some other activity. We want to provide the best quality possible while being environmentally responsible. We therefore source all our food through our Yorkshire office in the market town of Malton, using in-season vegetables from the surrounding dales. Our meat comes from the local butcher who prepares it for us from local free range animals. Main meals are personally prepared by Sophie Legard of Malton Relish (www.maltonrelish.co.uk) to give you a real 'home-cooked' experience. All this, and the pleasure of knowing you are eating sustainably. Vegetarian options can be provided - ask at the time of booking
