Celebrate Labor Day Weekend with a taste of all the summer foods you love on City Food Tours’ “So Long to Summer” Food Tour. This 2 ½-hour tour, in Center City Philadelphia, features tastings that include three summertime favorites—great barbeque, refreshing mixed drinks and the freshest seafood—with a sophisticated twist. The “So Long to Summer” Food Tour will be held on Sunday, September 6, starting at 3:30 p.m. at XIX (Nineteen) at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at The Bellevue, Broad and Walnut Streets.
“Labor Day weekend has always been the last hoorah for summer fun, but not everyone feels like hassling with a hot grill or dealing with the crowds down the shore. We are offering a fun and unique experience that not only sends summer out in style, but introduces folks to three of Philadelphia’s top restaurants,” said Robert Weinberg, co-owner, City Food Tours, which has been the premier food-focused tour and event operator since they burst onto the Philadelphia food scene in November 2007.
This celebration of the best of summer begins in the lavish and luxurious setting of XIX at the top of the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at The Bellevue, where guests will be treated to a sampling of fresh seafood that tastes like it’s straight from the shore. This is not your standard clam bake! Guests will sample opulent treasures from the sea including oysters, mussels, and scallops, and have the opportunity to ask questions about preparing seafood dishes at home.
The group will then walk just a few blocks to Roys restaurant, where a tasting flight of several summer-inspired mixed drinks awaits. The lively bartender will demonstrate how to prepare the drinks and provide tips on making fun, thirst-quenching concoctions at home.
The tour will continue at Fogo de Chao Steakhouse for a barbeque experience that will leave your backyard grill feeling a bit inadequate. While sampling a variety of succulent meats grilled to perfection and exploring the history and culture of Southern Brazil, chefs will offer tips on becoming king of the grill! 21 and older only, advanced reservations required.
