Meet big cats in the big city at the zoo's newest exhibit. A rugged evergreen habitat, complete with a rocky waterfall, replicates the critically endangered snow leopard's home below the tree line in the mountains of Central Asia. In 1903, the Bronx Zoo became the first zoo in the Western Hemisphere to exhibit these rare spotted cats. Today, the Bronx and Central Park Zoos are home to the most important collection of snow leopards in North America.
