SNIFF, the dog movie: FUND-RAISING SCREENING FOR NORCAL GOLDEN RETRIEVER RESCUE AND MORRIS ANIMAL FOUNDATION CANINE CANCER CAMPAIGN AT THE CREST THEATRE IN SACRAMENTO

SNIFF the dog movie will screen at Sacramento's Crest Theatre on Thursday September 23 at 8:00 pm. The 8pm show is a fund-raiser for Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue and the Morris Animal Foundation Canine Cancer Campaign.

SNIFF is an independent film, made almost entirely in California by Oakland film-makers Barry Stone and Kim Webster. Several scenes of SNIFF were filmed in the Sacramento area, and one of the canine stars was rescued by Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue. "Joey", a handsome Golden Retriever was rescued and placed with Sacramento business owners Mike and Victoria, of Mike's Auto in January of 2005. "Victoria will bring Joey to the screening to bask in the limelight, and make us all proud of what we've accomplished though our program," says NGRR volunteer Shirlee Thomas.

Nola Jones of Performance Dogs in Action in Pleasant Grove is also part of the film which features several of her sheep-dogs in training with a herd of ducks!

SNIFF is a romping hybrid of fiction and documentary. Two British actors (Neil Morrissey and Richard Huw) are hired by Juliette (Amanda Plummer) to be dress-up concierges of a posh San Francisco Dog Hotel. They decide to use their time away from home to make a documentary about dogs. The trouble is, they're not quite making the same film!

Outgoing Neil favors heart-warming vignettes about dogs that skateboard and surf, but his bookish sidekick Richard is drawn to serious stories of Guide Dogs and Search-and-Rescue dogs. Between their dueling lenses, SNIFF explores the world through a dog's eyes, ears and nose.

Special descriptive i-PODS will be provided for the blind.
