Slumdog Millionaire (UK, 2008) June 27, 2009

Jamal, a poor, bright-eyed youth, gets in and out of scrapes with his even more rambunctious older brother, Salim. A ray of sunshine enters their lives when they befriend another orphan, Latika, a feisty young girl. Years later, Jamal appears on India's version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.' Amazingly, he finds himself winning more and more prize money as he keeps answering difficult questions. But how can a "slumdog" with no formal education know the answers? Suspicions are raised, and Jamal quickly learns that the game show will be his biggest life test.
