"Rock & Roll cage match with "Sleep State VS The Ultraviolents" live at Vintage Vinyl

Two of St. Louis' finest DIY outfits, Sleep State and The Ultraviolents, have been creating some sweet noise around town for awhile now but are finally committing their sweet tuneage to disc to share with the world.

Sleep State is an alarm to the sleeping masses of today's generation. Featuring socially-relevant lyrics intended to be gang vocals to spur audience interaction, this experimental/post-punk guitar and drum duo stimulates spectators with their deeply intertwined chemistry and passionate performances. Intricate math-induced rhythms, contrasting melodic lines and a distinct finger-picking playing style on guitar make their sound unique.

The Ultraviolents, a four piece experimental rock group with surf influences and the aggression of a punk band, attempt to deliver an intense head rush during every show. Complimentary breakdowns from drums and bass, dissonant distorted guitar and abrasive saxophone lines fill out a solid sound heightened by riotous vocal yells. With lyrics citing movie quotes and a taste for randomness, the 'Violents bring a light edge to their heavy compositions.

Catch the two groups live at Vintage Vinyl on August 17th at 7:00PM as they perform the individual band tracks from the split in addition to special one-time only performances of their collaborative tracks."
