The portrayal of Asian men in American cinema is chronicled in this eye-opening documentary that spans from the time of silent films to the present day. Numerous well-known Asian American entertainers candidly confront social issues that have shaped the portrayals of Asian men in both film and television, and examine how this has affected both the way America views Asian men and the way Asian men in America view themselves. Using insightful interviews with pioneering actors such as Mako and James Shigeta, current stars such as Will Yun Lee and Jason Scott Lee, writer Frank Chin, director Eric Byler, and many others, the progression of the Asian American man in Hollywood is examined with many surprising turns along the way.
