The Skride/Vogler Trio - cellist Jan Vogler and sisters violinist Baiba Skride and pianist Lauma Skride - will perform in concert, presented by San Francisco Performances. The program will be: Beethoven's Piano Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1 "Ghost"; Shostakovich's Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 67; and Brahms Piano Trio in B Major, Op. 8.

Born in Riga, Latvia, Baiba and Lauma Skride are part of a deeply musical family. This season, toward the end of the Mendelssohn anniversary year, they were to play the composer's Double Concerto with Zuricher Kammerorchester and Warsaw Philharmonic. They will also be joined by cellist Vogler for a performance of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under John Storgards.

Still in her mid-twenties, Baiba Skride has appeared with major orchestras in the US and Europe. Highlights of the current season include an extensive German tour with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons, and a return to Houston Symphony with Yan-Pascal Tortelier. She has recorded for Sony Classical since 2004 and recently released a first duo recording with her sister Lauma (Schubert, Beethoven, Ravel).

Based in Dresden and New York City, Jan Vogler has rapidly established himself as one of the best young cellists on the world stage, combining traditional musical roots with a contemporary interpretive style. Recent performances include Schumann's Cello Concerto with the New York Philharmonic under Lorin Maazel. Also an avid recitalist and chamber musician, he has performed extensively with pianist Louis Lortie and next season will appear in Paris and Munich with Helene Grimaud.

Lauma Skride has performed as a soloist, as well as with her sisters, violinist Baiba Skride and violist Linda Skride. Her Sony recording of Fanny Mendelssohn's "Das Jahr" was released in 2006 and earned her the title "Newcomer of the Year" at the prestigious Echo Awards in 2007.
