Skin & Bones: Tattoos in the Life of the American Sailor November 3, 2009

An original exhibit exploring the origins, functions and significance of tattoos in American sailors' lives, as well as how the art of tattooing has spread throughout society, impacting not only the body, but fashion, decor, and many forms of contemporary art. The exhibit will include traditional and modern tattooing tools, flash, tattoo-related art, historic photographs, personal stories of tattoo artists and tattooed sailors, etc.
