There may be six degrees of separation in their relationships and styles, but the work of the seven artists in the show 6 Degrees of Separation at Satsuma Gallery in the NoHo Arts District represents a very cohesive display. The show will open on Thursday, May 29, 2008 with a special designers/decorators preview. The artists reception will be held on Saturday May 31, 2008 from 7:00PM until 10:00Pm. The show will close on June 13, 2008.

Each of the seven artists in the show, Kerianne Connor, Richard Doran, Gus Harper, Debra Kagan-Murray, Catharine King, Tony Osio and Dawn Tappen, has a connection to the other, either on a personal or professional level.

Kerianne Connor is a contemporary abstract artist who creates sculptural paintings that are inspired by design and architecture.

Richard Doran is a ceramic artist who pays tribute to the ceramic tradition of the vessel through heavily textured, sculptural forms.

Gus Harpers work is celebratory, semi realistic and yet somewhat surreal. His oil paintings strive to use vibrant colors to find the beauty in everyday objects and settings.

Debra Kagan-Murray focuses on vibrant color, texture and design in a wide range of media, including oil, encaustics, mixed media and acrylics to create images ranging from textile design to whimsy.

Tony Osio is a symbolic, expressionistic painter fascinated with the underbelly, both angst-ridden and comic, of the world around him.
Catharine Kings oil paintings explore the ideas of experimentation with color theory, trompe loeil, as well as fundamental and organic forms expressed in their simplest states in nature.

Dawn Tappen utilizes very fine wet sandpaper to reveal the history of the multi-layered acrylic/polyurethane abstract images she creates.

Satsuma Gallery is located in the industrial section of NoHo, and the 2500 square foot space is home to four resident artists, whose studio space is located directly behind the gallery space, providing gallery visitors the unique opportunity to observe and engage artists in their work space.
