DOUBLE TAKE: THE SPACE BETWEEN ARCHITECTURE AND FILM

The Royal College of Art Architecture department’s acclaimed public talks are back for 2007-08 with a fascinating programme - Double Take - featuring some of the world’s top architects and professionals working within the world of film.

11 March 2008: Sir Christopher Frayling and Sir Ken Adam
Sir Christopher Frayling is Rector of the Royal College of Art and Chairman of Arts Council England, as well as being a film fanatic. He has written many books on the popular end of film, from ‘Nightmare: Birth of Horror’ to studies on spaghetti westerns including Sergio Leone’s biography ‘Something to do with Death’ and in 2005 he wrote ‘Ken Adam: The Art of Production Design’.
According to Frayling, Sir Ken Adam is acknowledged as the world’s greatest living production designer, as well as one of the most prolific. He has designed 75 films, creating the bold and revolutionary designs for seven Bond movies, as well as the startling war room in Kubrick’s ‘Dr Strangelove’. He has won Oscars for ‘Barry Lyndon’ and ‘The Madness of King George’.
