Have you ever wondered how Victory Square was named and how Gastown became, well Gastown? Are you curious about this area’s rich architectural history? Join Meet Market Adventures and other fun loving singles as we explore Vancouver’s unique architecture and history.

As our guide leads us on our walking tour, they’ll regale us with stories about Vancouver’s humble beginnings. From a handful of frontier-style saloons catering to Hastings Mill workers, to how a newly incorporated city of Vancouver grew quickly after the ‘Great Fire’ of 1886 and then the arrival of Canadian Pacific Railway in 1887. We’ll hear how building scale and street layout led to the westward shift of the downtown from Victory Square to Burrard and Granville streets and learn about more recent revitalization and heritage preservation projects that are working to maintain the history and character of this ever changing neighbourhood.

Once our tour concludes we’ll gather at a local watering hole to continue the adventure by sharing photographs and spending time with new found friends. So grab your camera and get ready to walk the streets of this great city of ours!
