"“You can almost hear the surf” at this “classy”, “East Coast–style seafooder”, a River North and Northwest Suburb “keeper” from the Lettuce Entertain You crew that reels ’em in with “worldwide-sourced” fish and shellfish including “oysters from both coasts” and a “selection of sushi”; the decor evokes “Miami Beach in the 1940s” with both a “formal” room and more “laid-back oyster bar”, so while a few fear it costs too many “clams”, the majority feels the prices are “justified by the quality”; N.B. both locations offer an extensive, affordable Sunday brunch buffet."- Zagat.com
"Far from both the Atlantic and the Pacific, Chicago still manages to get its fair share of fresh seafood. The showiness of this place reels us in, in large part because Shaw's deals with only top-quality stuff, much of it sustainable. It is in the cooking that the place falls off the boat on occasion. The crab cakes are first-rate, as is the lobster. A net full of fish---salmon, grouper, perch, scallops and shrimp---fill out the extensive menu, along with familiar side dishes. Desserts seem to be an afterthought, though we find the Key lime pie to be quite good. The service has a tendency to go over the top, but it knows what the kitchen is doing.
