Blu Lagoon Productions is thrilled to announce the Canadian première of the sensational Off-Broadway play Single Black Female, a comedy about the pleasures and the perils of being a single middle class black woman who’s got everything she wants and needs except that someone special to share life with! Written by renowned playwright Lisa B. Thompson, the critically acclaimed play opens Saturday, March 13 at the George Weston Recital Hall in the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Single Black Female will run for 5 performances until Sunday, March 21.

Single Black Female follows two thirty-something African-American middle class women as they search for love, clothes and dignity. The hip show is filled with rapid-fire comic vignettes that explores the world that these educated career women live in. These ladies explain what it really means to be single in modern day America; from the highs and the lows, the ups and the downs, and everything in between. Told from a strong point of view, at the heart and core of this fresh theatrical piece are the identifiable and universal themes of acceptance and love.
