Mon, Aug 21st, 2006: Jon Shain was born and raised in Massachusetts but comes to us tonight from North Carolina. A former rocker turned acoustic singer-songwriter, Jon supports his songs about the new South with Piedmont blues, swing, ragtime and bluegrass guitar to mold a style of contemporary folk music informed by rock. In the 1990s Jon’s bands opened for David Grisman, the Tony Rice Unit, Hot Tuna, Leon Russell, the Dave Matthews Band, the Dixie Dregs and others. His latest CD “Home Before Long” was produced by legendary drummer Dave Mattacks (who now lives in Marblehead) and Boston studio genius, Tom Dube. Jon Shain has received glowing reviews in Sing Out!, Dirty Linen and The Village Voice. Visit www.jonshain.com for more information.
