Concert description:

Sacred choral music from the Renaissance and 20th Century Stefano Mengozzi, lute Scott Van Ornum, organ and piano Brian Altevogt, conductor Sine Nomine is a professional choir of sixteen voices from the Ann Arbor area conducted by Concordia University Director of Choirs, Brian Altevogt. This concert will include music of Renaissance composer William Byrd: Mass for 4 Voices, the motet Haec dies and the full anthem Sing Joyfully. University of Michigan Associate Professor of Musicology Stefano Mengozzi will interject lute music of the Elizabethan Period between sections of the mass. The music of the second half provides contrast with dimensions of flash, drama, and praise through works of 20th-century composers Gerand Finzi, Egil Hovland, and Robert Beaser.
