2 days: 11/16 and 11/18. Spend an evening discovering the world of fiber arts. Participants will get a first hand look at all aspects of the marbling process: preparing fabric, making thickened water, mixing and floating paints, manipulating patterns, and transferring their designs to cloth. Marbling is a process that allows unlimited exploration with color and endless variety in patterning. Emphasis will be placed on exploration and nontraditional uses of this medium which has intrigued Turkish sultans, French peasants, and Japanese emperors. Every participant will complete two 9" by 54" silk scarves. Students can make extra scarves for an additional price of $15 per scarf.
