The Silicon Valley Engineering Council (SVEC) proudly presents its 2010 Silicon Valley Engineers Week Banquet on Thursday, February 18, 2010. The SVEC will honor Hall of Fame inductees, feature distinguished keynote speakers, and award several scholarships for academic excellence. The Hall of Fame ceremony will recognize local engineers for their outstanding professional achievements, both in engineering and technology-- and for significant contributions to the community.

Keynote speakers include California High Speed Rail engineers Robert Doty, Peninsula Rail Program Director, and Timothy Cobb, SF to SJ Segment Project Manager.
Hall of Fame inductees include Dr. Alan M. Title, Inventor of variation on the Michelson Interferometer and Director/Senior Fellow of Lockheed Martin Space Systems, and Mr. Richard J. Elkus, Jr., author of "Winner Take All: How Competitiveness Shapes the Fate of Nations" and CEO/Co-Chairman of Voyan Technology.
Dr. Title was a National Research Fellow at both the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and Harvard University, where he developed optical solar telescopes on Skylab. He went on to direct Lockheed's Solar Obervatory, and has led Lockheed's solar group for three decades. In 1994, with Professor Phillip Scherer, he formed the Stanford-Lockheed Institute for Space Research.
Mr. Elkus, one of the original investors in Voyan Technology, is Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO. He also serves on the Boards of KLA-Tencor and Lam Research as well as SOPRA, SA in France. Previously, as Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of Prometrix Corporation, he revolutionized the concept of computerized wafer mapping. He wrote the original product plan and headed the team that introduced the VCR in September 1970.
