Gordon Mowrer is a man of many hats.

He is a member of the Bethlehem City Council, a retired Moravian pastor, a chaplain at St. Lukes Hospital, and a businessman. He served as mayor of Bethlehem from 1974 to 1977, and again in 1987! With the publication of his memoirs, The Comeback Kid: What You Didn't Know About Mayor Mowrer, he now wears an author's cap.

The book is a recollection of stories and memories from his years as mayor. It recounts how he was inspired to develop Bethlehem's Main Street into the charming and pedestrian-friendly downtown area that we see today. We get to eavesdrop on his "Open Door" afternoons at City Hall. And wife Mary and the rest of the family pipe in with some of their stories. Most wonderfully, the book has over 90 illustrations.

The Moravian Book Shop is pleased to debut Gordon Mowrer's book at a meet & greet signing and reception Wednesday, June 23rd, from 6-8pm.
