Shyam Rang : Hindustani Vocal Recital - Chhannulal Mishra. This concert celebrates the glorious traditions of the lighter genre of classical music, represented by its eminent exponent, Chhannulal Mishra. With Janmashtami just a few days away, the artiste will render an exclusive fare of thumri, dadra, kajri, sawan, rasiya and allied songs on the Krishna theme, selected from the priceless treasure of light-classical compositions prevalent in Eastern UP. Deeply imbibed in Krishna bhakti, the compositions are remarkable for their warm and poignant devotionalism. The veteran vocalist of the Kirana gharana will unravel the charm of the Poorab style, with its strong folk affinities and its rare grace and lyricism. The improvisations weave a colourful tapestry of sound and emotion as the artiste communicates the mood underlying the lyrics / sahitya. In collaboration with Sahachari Foundation, supported by Krishnakumar M. Daiya Charitable Trust and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. in aid of BSPCA.
