Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner March 8, 2011

Franconia United Methodist Church, 6037 Franconia Rd, Alexandria, invites you to our free Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner on Mar 8, 6-7:30 pm. In days gone by, early Christians observed the 40-day Lenten season as a time of fasting. The faithful were forbidden by the church to consume meat, butter, eggs or milk. In order to keep these foods from spoiling, they would have to be consumed by the Tuesday before Lent started. With the addition of a little flour, a tradition came about: Pancakes. Pancakes and more Pancakes! Join us for supper!
