Show - Arvel Bird - Lord of the Strings. Born in Idaho, raised in Utah and Arizona, Arvel Bird was never told much of his Native American heritage. He grew up as part of a hard working, middle-class family, and out of respect and love for his parents never asked nor felt it important to know his origins. All that changed in 2000 when Bird produced his first Native American-inspired album which sent him on a personal journey to find out more about this heritage. It was in the summer of 2002 that Bird discovered a link to his small tribe in Southern Utah. This discovery has greatly affected Bird's life and those around him; the influence on his musical career has been profound. Over the years, Bird has come up through the ranks of the music industry as a musician, performer, songwriter, recording engineer, record producer, and recording artist. In addition to the violin, he also is an accomplished mandolin, guitar, and Native flute player. His concerts feature contemporary instrumentals along with traditional Native American and Celtic percussions, music, and rhythms. The result is a unique blending of the Native American and European worlds in which he was raised. Arvel has released twelve CDs and one DVD since 2001. Several of those albums have received nominations and have won awards from a variety of United States and Canadian music organizations. Arvel is the 2007 Ninth Annual Native American Music Award 'Nammy' Artist of the Year and the 2007 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards 'Cammy' winner for Best Instrumental Album. Ticket prices $15 in advance. $20 at the door. Box office opens at 6:30 p.m.on the night of the concert.
