Shifting Paradigms Opening Sat, April 3rd April 3, 2010

In the heart of the Venice Boardwalk, well known for its thriving artist community and bustling colorful sidewalk acts emerges a wonderful new gallery. VOCA Gallery is a glimmering new gem located right between Venice and Santa Monica on Ocean Front Walk.
Dianne Neuman, artist and creator of VOCA Gallery is excited to be a new member of this artistic community. She currently owns and operates an art gallery, Arte De Sayulita, in Sayulita, Mexico, which she has curated for the last 5 years.
This past August, Dianne was visiting her son who lived in Venice Beach and was inspired by the magic of Venice and its artistic expression. In one breadth she looked over the brilliant ocean, landscape, the eclectic array of characters that surrounded her and exclaimed to her family “wouldn’t it be great to have a gallery right here? I Love Venice and feel so connected.” Then, as if her question was answered, she stepped onto the boardwalk after watching a glorious sunset…and there it was, this simple building with a “For Lease” sign on it! Three months later VOCA was open for business!
Neuman’s vision for the gallery is to provide great art, venues for artists to show their work and community involvement. VOCA exhibits contemporary work ranging from representation to pure abstraction. Irrespective of medium of medium, VOCA focuses on artists whose work challenges traditionally held notions about whether through approach, material use or content.
Amy Delaporte is the director at VOCA. She is an experienced art professional who has been in the art business for over fifteen years. Amy is supporting and facilitating the vision at VOCA.
This Friday April 3rd at 6:00 pm, Dianne Neuman invites artists and art patrons to celebrate the winner of the VOCA Art Gallery’s latest juried competition “Shifting Paradigms” (deadline is March 25th) . A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Homeless in Venice & Santa Monica.
