Mary Anne Dente

After Mississauga’s Mary Anne Dente’s lengthy teaching career with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, she has had the opportunity to paint and show her work more consistently while being inspired and mentored by artists and workshops at Central Technical Art School, Sheridan College, Neilson Park, and Haliburton School of the Arts. Mary Anne is also a member of the Etobicoke Art Group, Neilson Park Creative Centre and Springbank Artists in Mississauga.

Mary Anne’s use of watercolour and acrylic expresses her interpretation of the fragility and resilience of nature. Playing with light and shadow, as well as the combination of texture and colour in her recent paintings helps Mary Anne create an impression of places she has visited both at home and abroad. Her dynamic floral and atmospheric paintings have found homes in private collections across Canada and in the United States.

Jane Hoople

Etobicoke’s Jane Hoople has had her work exhibited in group shows and juried exhibitions at the Assembly Hall Gallery, Etobicoke Civic Centre Gallery, and Neilson Park Creative Centre. She is currently a member of The Etobicoke Art Group and Neilson Park Creative Centre.

Jane recently travelled to the south of France where she studied and exhibited at La Muse Artist Retreat. Her paintings explore the deeper issues of multicultural communities and social responsibilities while contemplating movement, form, colour, and time. Her work is held in private collections in North America, L’Hospital de Jacques Cartier in Massy, France, and by Alcatel Transport Automation China, in Beijing.

As regular contributors to the Garden Art Auction, both Mary Anne and Jane are designing chairs for the 2009 event which will be held in Sherway Square from May 30, 2009 to June 14, 2009.
