Always a fundamental source of imagery for painters, the Canadian landscape is revealed in a unique and very personal approach in acrylic and watercolour at Sherway Gardens’ (Hwy 427 & the QEW) current Gallery in the Garden exhibit entitled Totally Landscape. Paintings by Etobicoke artists Charline Gardhouse, Jean Ochrym and Neil Whitworth will be on display until August 29, 2009. Call 416-621-1070 or visit www.sherwaygardens.ca for more information.

Charline Gardhouse was born and raised in Toronto. She has won many awards for her watercolours and is currently a Signature Member of The Toronto Watercolour Society and an active member of The Don Valley Art Club, The Humber Valley Art Club and The Women's Art Association. She studied at art schools in the U.S. and Canada and with professional artists from both countries and Australia. Landscapes and florals are Charline’s favourite subjects and her style is all about looseness, which gives an impressionistic, fresh, and sparkling look to her work.

Jean Ochrym has a Certificate of Fine Arts from Sheridan College and studied at the Toronto School of Art. In the last ten years she has attended workshops led by John Leonard, Denis Cliff and Steve Rose at Neilson Park Creative Centre. She paints landscapes with vivid colours and attempts to create movement of light by using bold brush strokes and selecting subjects such as rushing streams, reflections, swirling skies and tumbling leaves. Jean is inspired by the scenery at her Lake of Bays cottage and by Group of Seven paintings reproduced on buildings in nearby Huntsville.

Neil Whitworth was born in Montreal and had an interest in art as soon as he was able to hold a pencil. He studied at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art and other private art schools in the Montreal area. After 40 years in retail advertising for Eaton’s, Holt Renfrew, Simpsons and the Bay, Neil now has time to paint his favourite subject…the varied Canadian landscape. Neil’s paintings are found in private collections in Canada, the U.S. and Great Britain and in corporate collections including Honeywell and Inco. Neil has been an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) since 1998 and The Etobicoke Art Group.
