Amazing music. Amazing fun. Amazing cause.
Saturday, Feb. 2 at T.T. The Bear's Place, Central Square, Cambridge (directions/parking)
"Shaun & Suzi's Annual Mardi Gras Ball" and the somewhat random summertime version, the Annual Bastille Day A-Go-Go, are Boston rock scene traditions.
The show, a revue, features Shaun Wolf Wortis & Suzi Lee (ex-Slide), fronting a large 'all-star' band playing New Orleans Rhythm and Blues (and some jazz), with special guest vocalists & performers from all over the spectrum of the Boston music scene. Everyone dresses up/dresses down, does whatever they like. This is really one of the most fun events in town of the year. Proceeds go to the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic which provides medical care to musicians in the hurricaine ravaged Crescent City.
Previous special guests read like a who's-who of Boston rock, including: Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, BELLY, Breeder), Barrance Whitfield, Bleu, Laurie Sargent (Twinemen, Face To Face), Jed Parish (Gravel Pit), Ramona Silver, Mick Mondo, Chris Mascara, Jen D'Angora (The Dents, The Downbeat 5), Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen), Dennis Brennan, Chris Cote (Upper Crust, Sex Bomba), Chandler Travis, Paula Kelley, Rick Berlin, Asa Brebner, Al Janik (Plastic Cheese, Rattle Heatre) , Valerie Forgione (Mistle Thrush), Kip McCloud (Lucky 57), Leah Callahan, Bo Barringer (Collisions), Andy Galdins (Rocketscience), Jordan Valentine (World's Greatest Sinners), Courtney Naliboff, Anita Suhanin, Peter Moore (Count Zero), Holly Brewer (HUMANWINE), Linda Viens (Angeline), Wayne Viens (Linda's husband, Good Will..), Adam Glasseye (Reverend Glasseye), Anna Price, Boston Babydolls (burlesque), Through The Keyhole (burlesque), The Jellyrollers, Session Americana, Bourbon Princess, Ziaf, Jeremy Lyons, Andrea Gillis, Willie 'Loco' Alexander, Sal Clemente (Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra), Steamy Bohemians, Monique Ortiz , Chilly Kurtz (Caged Heat)
