Sharon Fishel and Jeffrey Smith: Exhibition May 14, 2009

Sharon Fishel and Jeffrey Smith are husband and wife who approach similar subject matter - primarily natural elements such as leaves, flowers, and seedpods - and create art through vastly different media and technique. Sharon Fishel starts with extreme close-up views and creates richly layered abstract paintings with oil paint and glazes. Jeffrey Smith assembles natural and man-made forms from digital images, photograms and advertisements on the computer and then translates that into a large-scale monochromatic painting on canvas or paper.
