The course is an introduction to shamanic journeywork in the tradition of Michael Harner's core shamanism. Journeywork is at the heart of any shamanic practice - it is the means for an unmediated and direct connection to the world of Spirit - a world of infinite wisdom, love, and grace. When we journey, we carry the power of that world back into this one in a way that heals and uplifts ourselves and our environment.

The greatest benefit this work has to offer is the firm knowledge and experience that we are never alone. In this class, we will actually be establishing this connection by calling in Spirit and journeying to our power animal spirits. Like anything, journeying is a practice, but the class will provide all the tools to begin doing it on your own. The class will be almost entirely interactive and very, very hands-on (you will actually be journeying)! Our goal is to create a safe, intimate, and easeful space where you feel comfortable asking as many questions as you need to.

The suggested contribution for the course is $25 for members and $45 for nonmembers and will be offered on a sliding scale of $20-30 for members and $35-55 for nonmembers to accommodate a range of financial needs.

Shivani Ray Kadakia is a meditation and spirituality teacher, healer, and performer raised in an Eastern meditation tradition derived from Kashmir Shaivism and classical yoga. Shivani was one of the founding directors of UC Berkeley's acclaimed "Meditation, Mysticism, and the Mind" class which taught the practice of meditation and spiritual philosophy to over 500 students a year, and has since taught meditation at venues that range from corporate offices to hospitals. Shivani also leads retreats and workshops on personal healing, shamanism, energywork, and intuitive living, and has a private healing practice. She has a J.D. from USC Law School and a B.A. in Rhetoric and minors in Theater, Business, and South Asian Studies from UC Berkeley. Shivani's teaching dives into the depths of human vulnerability and the nature of existence, and is valued for her insightful, grounded, hilarious, and totally skeptic-friendly approach.
