Shamalamacord: Tsugaru shamisen and accordion together! Mike Penny and Aaron Seeman (Duckmandu) of Fishtank Ensemble have released their astounding new self titled CD. Drawing from diverse influences, these masters of technique give you forays into Gypsy, Classical, Traditional and Popular Japanese Music, 1920's Jazz, and Klezmer, as well as original works especially written for this unique combination of instruments! Duke Ellington, J.S. Bach, and Genta Kano sound as if they were written for shamisen and accordion.

GOD OF SHAMISEN is Kevin Kmetz's stupendous Rock/Funk/Metal/Progressive extravaganza, recently signed to EMI Japan! Kevin and other GOS members have played in Secret Chiefs III, Estradasphere, Monsters of Shamisen and Fishtank Ensemble to name just a few.

Over the course of this evening the Fishtank will be offering up the full history of Tsugaru Shamisen, from its traditional origins to its most cutting edge and innovative modern musical undertakings, played by two of the most forward looking masters of this fascinating Japanese instrument, Mike Penny and Kevin Kmetz.
