The Tempest is a magical romance by Shakespeare. The dethroned Duke of Milan, Prospero, who is a magician and scholar, has been exiled to a remote island with just his daughter, Miranda, and his precious texts. He has freed the sprite Ariel and so earned her loyalty, and he has made the brute Caliban his slave. Miranda has never seen a man beside her father, so when a storm tosses handsome and royal Ferdinand onto the island with his retinue, sparks are bound to fly.
