Shakespeare in Hollywood April 11, 2009

Max Reinhardt, the great director, arrives in Hollywood after mounting a very popular and lively production of Shakespeare's fanciful romantic comedy, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' Inspired by the possibilities, he convinces the head of Warner Brothers to make a film version of the play, with such stars of the day as Dick Powell, Olivia de Havilland, Jimmy Cagney, Mickey Rooney and Joe E. Lewis! Little does he know that the real Oberon and Puck have mistakenly transported onto this Hollywood set -- where love, grandeur and inspired lunacy ensue.
