A dynamic blend of old-school heavy metal, death metal, hardcore and '80s thrash, Shadows Fall takes elements from each genre and revitalizes them, making them utterly contemporary. All That Remains is a Massachusetts-based metalcore band. It was started as a side project by Phillip Labonte in 1998 while he was still a member of Shadows Fall. The first album came out in 2002, prompting DigitalMetal.com to hail the group as "one of the premier melodic death metal acts this side of the Atlantic."
