Using various tricks of light, perspective and erasure, the artworks in !Shadows, Disappearances and Illusions' each short-circuit the connection between the eye and the brain. They make us question what it is we are seeing and make us acutely aware of our role as viewers. The experience of art becomes not an affirmation of existing values, but a refreshment of the mind, the eye and the spirit that leads us to view the world around us with new eyes.

In 2007 The Northwest Food and Wine Festival will enter its second year with a targeted half day wine and food celebration created to present a rich rewarding experience for wine lovers and gourmet food enthusiasts. Held on Saturday the festival kicks off with a Magic of Magnums in the early afternoon followed by the Big Grand Wine Tasting Event on the main floor of the coliseum. A silent auction for charity, and the "get corked competition" add to the overall fun and enjoyment. A Parade of Ports will take place on Sunday Afternoon following the big event on Saturday at Fenouil Restaurant in the Pearl.
