BAMP Project, Hawaii's premier concert production company, presents Shabazz Palaces live in concert at Nextdoor on January 17, 2012.

Shabazz Palaces is the co-creation of MC Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, former member of the Grammy award winning Jazz group Digable Planets and Tendai Maraire. Together the duo created two critically acclaimed EPs, Shabazz Palaces and Of Light instantly creating a buzz from fans and record labels. Early on in their conception the duo kept a curtain of mystique, rarely sharing the details on the creation of their music, forcing listeners to think of them as an entirely new entity. The mystery proved beneficial as the duo received much praise for their work, quickly becoming the first hip-hop crew to be signed to indie rock label Sub Pop in 2010. Collectively they released their debut album called Black Up in 2011 making it one of Rolling Stone's "Bands to Watch" of 2011.
