The South Florida Community College Matinee Series presents an entertaining afternoon featuring one of the top acts of Branson, Mo., The Doug Gabriel Show, on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1:30 p.m., in the SFCC Auditorium, Highlands Campus.

Gabriel has performed in Branson for 22 years and most currently in his own production show, which is in its 14th season. The show has been awarded “Best Morning Show” honors the last six years. Gabriel was acknowledged as Branson’s Entertainer of the Year in 2000 as well as “Male Vocalist of the Year” seven times, and he was inducted into Branson’s Hall of Fame after winning “Best Male Vocalist” five of the last six years.

Gabriel is a multi-talented entertainer. Not only does he produce and direct his own show, he is an accomplished singer and songwriter, and he plays the guitar, the piano, and the Mufftar. His patented Mufftar is an instrument of which only two exist, made from a 1969 Thunderbird muffler and fashioned into a guitar.

Completing the cast is Gabriel’s wife of 25 years, Cheryl, and their three children; Joshua, 21, Jordan, 16, and Jasmine, 9. Cheryl joins Doug on stage in romantic duets in addition to singing classics by Patsy Cline, Anne Murray, and Karen Carpenter. Joshua has played drums since the age of two and has been featured on the Doug Gabriel Show for several years. Jordan performs comedy for the show. The youngest, Jasmine, steals the hearts of the audience as she sings and dances.

The Matinee Series is sponsored by Rick and Jean Moyer, Dr. and Mrs. Placido M. Roquiz Jr., and Drs. Abe and Carmelita Lim.
