Currently one of the most fertile, creative and productive forms in cinema and television, animation occupies a pressure point and hub between artistic, experimental, commercial and industrial media. It ranges from the latest visual fx-based art house films to family friendly cartoons. The Film Society is collaborating with SFMOMA to sample the wide breadth animation covers with four eclectic and international screenings of feature-length and short films.
On Thursday and Saturday we will present the latest technical, aesthetic and narrative techniques in animated film production. On Sunday, bring the kids for family friendly fare, including a retrospective screening of a classic animated film.
Full details of film screenings will be posted as soon as they are available. All screenings take place in the Phyllis Wattis Theater. See www.sfmoma.org for more about the Museum’s October Family Day. Free with gallery admission. Sunday screenings included in Family Day admission.
